Peas Are In The Ground!

Yesterday after I got home from work my Wife, Son and I worked up a small garden plot next to the barn and put in 3 rows of peas, we will plant more rows in a few weeks so that they won’t all be ready at the same time. I can not wait for those first peas! There is nothing better!! It is sunny and warm today but we are just being lazy today. I hope all you mothers have had a Great Mothers Day!!

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that 1 in 7 Americans are on food stamps, let that sink in for a minute. This is only going to get worse in the future, with the FED pumping out money it is only going to cause more inflation and things we need such as food and gas, and it drive more Americans to the program. Now before you say we need more jobs, I agree, but think about it, if you have a small business would you be looking to add employees? I would guess not, with the uncertainty in the economy, and the world most companies are sitting back trying to hold on to what they got and hoping for the best. If you watch the news you only hear about how bad Big business is(and that only means a profit over $250,000) for America, and its their fault for the 2008 crash. Well if you drive all of the supposed Big Business away where are the people to work? For the Government? Most jobs in this country are created by this so-called Big Business. We need to support these business if we want them to remain in this Country, other Countries would love to have those jobs. Our government needs to back off and let the free market and business and most of all the consumer create more jobs! I hope that the congress does not raise the debit ceiling, hey Obama is only asking for another $2,000,000,000,000,000. When are we going to wake up and realize is not going to work forever. I urge you to contact your congress men/women and tell them you don’t support rasing the debit ceiling! If we do at some point the 1 in 7 will turn into 7 in 7.

Still Raining

I don’t know what it is doing in your area, but here it seems like we can’t get two dry days in a row. It has been a very wet spring and the temp has been on the chilly side. I would really like to begin working up our gardens, but they are still a bit muddy. I am hoping to expand our gardens this year, as my wife really is great with the canner so it would be great to be able to stock up for the winter. We also have many projects to work on this year, replacing a few windows and finishing the chicken coop etc… I m going to plant a lot of beets this year as my wife learned a recipe from an Amish friend, and they are just like candy to me, man they are good! Would have liked to have the peas in, but it won’t quit raining. On the plus side the grass is growing good so we can let the animals out on pasture and save a few $ on hay. It works good until Tigger the bull decides right as I need to leave for work, that the winter wheat in the field next to the pasture looks much better than what he is eating and walks through the fence! Ah Good Times! The wife is going to take the three chicks out to the coop tonight after dark and stick them under a hen that is sitting on eggs, So learned that by doing so the hen thinks the chicks belong to her and will take care of them, which is much nice than having them in the house. Even though it raining spring is here and Gods earth is beginning to wake up from its winter slumber, and I for one am happy!

Well by now you all have heard that Bin Laden is dead. After 10 years it almost seemed like it was never going to happen. Most of us never really thought much about it anymore, but today all Americans are remembering 9-11-01. I will never forget that day as I am sure you will not either.  I would like to say Thank You to our military, JOB WELL DONE!! The President and his administration also get my thanks! I was a little surprised by the way people celebrated in streets, I am happy too but I feel we should not have done that. It is what you see in the Middle East. I understand why they did it I just don’t agree with how they did it. Now I wonder what will happen next, will they try to attacks us again? Most likely they will. I guess only time will tell. Please Pray for our Troops tonight, and may God Bless this nation.

CNSNews.com has a report that then United States is now borrowing $4,ooo,000,000 a day and will hit the debt ceiling sometime around May 16th. I say do not raise the ceiling and let the pain begin, the U.S. would not default on our loans because we didn’t raise it. There is enough money coming in through taxes to make these payments. Congress and the President will try to scare us that the economy will collapse if it is not raised. That will not happen, well at least it shouldn’t, but it will if they don’t cut the SPENDING! Will it be tough? Yes. Will it effect each American? Yes. Should we do it now as to not make our children pay for our mistakes? Yes, should be the answer. I will sacrifice for my Country and my children even if it means hard times(and it does)but we will come out a much stronger nation. The question is will you?

Off Off-Grid

There is a book I am reading right now that is excellent. Michael Bunkers book called Surviving Off Off-Grid. I am almost half way through and it is one of the better books I have read. This book is not just about getting off the electrical grid, but goes deeper by getting  you off your off  grid system to the ways that were done before electricity. Judging from the direction the world is headed we will need some of those skills again. I really recommend you buy this book! let me know what you think.

Hey I’m new here!

Well as the title says I new to this Blog thing, but I felt led to so. I have had a feeling for a long time that I should be doing this, I am not sure how it will go, but I will trust in the Lord and pray that he leads me to things to say on here. So lets give it a try.

I feel as most do (I hope) that our Country is not heading in the right direction, by that I mean the policies of our Federal Government seem to be doing more harm than good. Do you feel the Country is better today than it was 2 years ago, or how about 5 years ago, I don’t. Heck 2 years ago I was pretty much unaware of what was even going on in my own State let alone the Country. It is not just about Obama either, yes he is what woke me up and at first he was at the center of what I thought was the problem, but it much larger than that, it is the whole system. The problem to me is that Washington does not care what WE THE PEOPLE  think, all they seem to care about is getting reelected. This is not what it is supposed to be, we elect them, then they go to Washington to do their best to represent the people who sent them their, and at the end of their term if we feel they did a good job then we reelect them. Their are two problems with that statement: 1. The elected official almost aways want to make “Severing the Public” their career, which is not what the Founders envisioned, and 2. Which in my mind is our biggest problem is US the voter. Voters just seem to keep voting these officials back in for years or decades. Why? Well because most of us don’t care, most who do vote are not even sure what or who their voting for but they heard some ones name on tv or radio more than the other guy so he must be the better choice,Right? I just as guilty. I have in recent years really tried to be informed as much as I can on the issues or candidates I am voting for. So what can be done? First the voter has to get informed, and NEEDS to vote, second this Country needs leaders who are unafraid to make decidions on the issuse before him or her, if they do what they feel is the right thing to do(even pray on the issue) and is honest with the Country, then they should not have a fear of not being reelected becasue we would stand behind them 100%.
